Tougher Animal Cruelty Laws for Ontario Needed

It is unacceptable that those who harm animals, either directly or through neglect, are more likely to receive a slap on the wrist than face any real fines or jail time. That’s assuming they’re convicted of anything in first place. Current animal cruelty laws are antiquated and have no teeth to them. They need to be strengthened so that this very vulnerable part of society can be protected.

A recent CityOnLine poll shows that the public is behind this issue. We here at the THS call on you to make strengthening animal cruelty laws a priority and make the necessary changes as soon as possible.
