No More Electric Company Delivery Fees

To:  Connecticut State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal

I’M DONE PAYING HIGH ELECTRIC UTILITY DELIVER FEES!
The price gouging Delivery Service Charge is no longer going to be acceptable. The State’s power companies are as greedy and have significantly hurt a vast majority of consumers in Connecticut.

Sir, you stated that you were going to investigate the reason why the power companies were charging such a large Delivery Service Charge in addition to the Supplier Service Charge. Furthermore, you insinuated that the Delivery Service Charge was illegal. Finally, Attorney Blumenthal, you stated that the power companies indicated the charges were for future construction of power plants. Why should the consumers be responsible to pay for something that might not even be built? It was my belief that as Attorney General, you were going to investigate this situation. To date, nothing has been done!

Times are bad enough for the consumer. Why should the power companies be allowed to charge a separate Delivery Service to the Consumer? If the power companies’ rates are controlled by the DPUC, then, why isn’t the DPUC also controlling the Delivery Service Charge? If they cannot, then why isn’t anyone challenging these charges? The Delivery Service Charge is outrageous.

This is something that our elected officials should be investigating including you, Attorney Blumenthal. After all, the Connecticut Legislature had some fault in this situation due to their deregulation of the power companies. It is time to close the financial loophole that is bilking millions of dollars from the rate payers.
