To The Pythons (living and dead),

This is a petition, to humbly ask if you can finally give your fans the shows they deserve.

Let me explain. As you all know it is the year 2009 and this year among other things marks the 40th anniversary of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Time, I think, to cry out and ask for a proper treatment. Just like the 20th and the 30th anniversary it was celebrated with a new documentary.
(There are now over a dozen documentaries on Monty Python, many of which tell the same stories.)
The television series has finally been released in region 2.

This is the age of the DVD and anything is possible. However... there are a lot of things that the fans would love to see, but have never been given!

A short list of items never released:
* The Montreux Special
* The Birds Eye Frozen Pea
* Close-up toothpaste
* Harmony hairspray
* Away from it all (the travelogue)
* The long versions known to exist of some of the episodes (such as The Light Entertainment War)
* The Steve Martin Sketch recorded for the 20th anniversary but never used (effectively Graham Chapman's last Python appearance)

The list is longer than this, but you get the idea. Doubtlessly there is even more that we simply don't even know of!
So what can be done?

This, dear Pythons, can be done:

You could make it happen. Perhaps you are sick and tired of being constantly reminded of Monty Python. But your early work deserves to be seen.
(And as Douglas Adams once said, whatever you did afterwards was made possible by the thing that made you famous, in your case, the Flying Circus.)

Remember that you fought for your artistic freedom with the BBC and again when the Flying Circus was cut up on American television.
Please, take an interest one last time, and give us a full and complete set of dvds with everything on it you can find.
We care for it and we want it! And if all else fails, do it because we will pay for it with money.

Your friends will help you. Your fans will help you. Search Terry Jones' house. Lay siege to the BBC. Please. Thank you.

Best regards,

"Spiny Norman"
