Torontonians For Breathable Air

To:  Toronto City Council

We, The People of Toronto, in light of the global climate crisis, as well as diminishing local water resources, increasing food prices and cancerous summer air quality, demand that City Council take the following emergency measures:

•Banning of all two-stroke engines including those on lawnmowers, leaf-blowers and edge-trimmers

•Restrict vehicular traffic on smog days, and discourage private automobile use year-round by applying a congestion charge to the GTA

•Ban on the use of municipal water to grow grass for cosmetic purposes.

•Allowing for the naturalization of lawns by changing property by-laws to allow people to not cut their grass of they so choose

•Taking charge of Toronto’s food security by educating and supporting community and backyard gardens, as well as planting food (fruit & nut) trees on public lands
