The wide spot in the Colorado River adjacent to Austin, TX, formerly known as Town Lake and recently renamed to Lady Bird Lake, should be restored to its former name of Town Lake.

We believe:
1) Renaming things is stupid.
2) Lady Bird already has a wildflower center named after her.
3) Lady Bird Lake is hard to say and sounds stupid.
4) People still call it Town Lake, no matter what the sign on the side of Mo-Pac says.
5) Austin City Council needs to get a grip and find some better things to do than pass "rename landmark X" resolutions.
6) 1st St. is 1st St. not Caesar Chavez, 26th is 26th not Dean Keaton. You can keep MLK, because at least that has a ring to it.
7) Any more attempts at renaming Austin landmarks and/or streets will be subject to banishment from the city, to a suburb of either Houston or Dallas, a location equidistant to a discount outlet mall, a mega church and a super mega family fun center (a conglomeration of all three will suffice).
