In 2003 the sixth instalment in the Tomb Raider game series was released, the Angel of Darkness. After the game came out the reigns of Tomb Raider were passed from Core Design to the American based Crystal Dynamics.

With the passing of control from Core Design to Crystal Dynamics the continuation of the trilogy set up by the Angel of Darkness was passed over for the reinvention of the series, Tomb Raider: Legend and its sequels.

The great potential of the trilogy beginning with the Angel of Darkness, a darker exploration within the Tomb Raider series while still remaining true to the original Tomb Raider games, was lost. It is the loss of this story which causes concern for many long-time fans of the Tomb Raider series in regards to the direction which Tomb Raider is taking.

We, the fans, understand that the Angel of Darkness did not necessarily perform well in ratings of the game, and was perhaps not recieved as well as it should have been due to its unfinished state. Additionally it was criticised for being littered with bugs of varying severity; however, it is more than possible to play through the game without encountering a single bug and thus can fully appreciate the first, incomplete, instalment to the Angel of Darkness trilogy.

The aim of this petition is to get the storyline of the Angel of Darkness continued in some form of media. It is important to note that any possibly continuation should be in the same vein as the Angel of Darkness in keeping with the atmosphere which made the game so appealing. Primarily we would like the continuation to be a game, it is important to note that we do not ask for the suspension of the Legend story in favour of this continuation, rather we would prefer that it be produced simultaneously. One possibility is to have it released as downloadable content similarly to the way in which Tomb Raider Anniversary was made available. Failing the continuation being made in the form of a game, we ask that it be continued in some other form, perhaps an interactive DVD adventure, a graphic novel, book or another form through which the completion of the story can be achieved to the satisfaction of the loyal Tomb Raider fans.
