Op. True Love: Keep Pacey and Joey Together

We, the undersigned, support the coupling of Pacey Witter and Joey Potter. We support the producer’s decision of Joey choosing Pacey in Season Three’s finale, “True Love” (Episode #323), and would like to continue seeing Pacey and Joey together as a couple, a couple we believe belong together for the follow reasons:

1. The actors, Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes, exude such a natural chemistry that cannot be matched by any others. In, “The Anti-Prom,” the most powerful scene on-screen was when Pacey and Joey danced together, proof of the chemistry that only exists between the two. Another example can be seen in the scene from “Weekend in the Country” (Episode #312) when Pacey covers Joey with a blanket as she sleeps and watches her sleep by the fire.

2. Season Three, as Joey said, “We’ve been trying to stop each other from moving on and from growing up. But not you. You’re different. And you’ve challenged me every step of the way and you’ve been there every step of the way” (“True Love,” Episode #323). Only Pacey has been the one to think about whom she is inside and accept her completely for who she is. “He takes care of her, encourages her art and her spirit to grow, he challenges her, he needs her, and most of all her truly loves her…unconditionally,” as quoted by Evie.

3. Dawson made ultimatums for Joey: “You can't have both of us! You can't have him as your boyfriend and me as your consolation prize. You're gonna have to make a choice” (“The Longest Day,” Episode #320). “You have to pick somebody, Joey” (“The Anti-Prom,” Episode #322). Pacey, however, understood completely and knew not to make her choose. “And I understand. I do, I understand. There are no ultimatums here” (“Show Me Love,” Episode #321). “He never pushed her to make a decision she wasn't ready to make. No matter how much she hurt him, he never turned his back on her or gave up on her. He didn't give her ultimatums, unlike Dawson. He said no matter who she choose they would always be friends, something that Dawson would never do,” as quoted by Joyce.

These are only a handful of the reasons that can begin to describe why we believe Pacey Witter and Joey Potter need to continue to stay together. We respectfully urge you, as the producers of the show, to support our belief to continue to keep the couple we love together.
