Urge Bug Selig to allow Youth Baseball Leagues to use the MLB team names and logos |
To: Major League BaseballAs a coach for my son's youth baseball team, I was shocked to hear that Major League Baseball (MLB) charges big licensing fees to youth baseball leagues if they use MLB team names or logos on their kids’ jerseys. Obviously, these are non-profit, volunteer organizations, so how does the MLB expect these leagues to pay huge licensing fees -- it is a complete abomination!
The MLB should be ashamed for not providing our youth with same opportunity we had as kids imaging we were playing for the "big league" teams in our very own jerseys of the same name. I think this does irrevocable damage to the sport if this continues and is a short-sighted decision in favor of making a buck now, instead of promoting the sport to the next generation of baseball players.
If you feel as disappointed as I do, please sign this petition to urge Bud Selig to reverse this misguided licensing decision and start investing in our youth today!
Sincerely,
