Subject: Petition and urgent request to save the lives of
Iranian Prisoners


Dear Mrs/Sirs

The lives of two journalists Mr. Ahmad Zaidabadi and Mr. Masood Bastani journalist and political activist as well as the lives of Mr. Mansoor Osanloo spokesperson for the Transport Workers Syndicate, and that of Ms. Shirin Alam-Houli who is accused of collaboration with the Free Life Party of Kurdistan known as Pejak , are in grave and imminent danger.

Mr. Ahmad Zaidabadi the General Secretary of the Organisation of Iranian Student Graduates and a known journalist was moved from Evin prison to the 6th ward of the Gohardasht Prison in Karaj. He has subsequently been moved to Cell number 2, Hall number 17 of the ward which houses common criminal inmates. Mr. Masood Bastani journalist and political activist, according to his legal representative Mr. Mohamed Sharif, have also been moved to Rajahi-Shahr prison. His condition is of much concern due to health issues and the fact that he is being placed among, addicts, drug dealers and common criminals. Transfer of political prisoners to the sections of the prison where criminals and convicts are housed, is against the prison rules and regulations.

Mr. Mansoor Osanloo has been transferred to the Hall number two known as dogs pit of the Gohardasht Prison. The conditions in this section are akin to that of a medieval prison. Moreover the prisoners are subjected to physical and psychological tortures. Ms. Shirin Alam-Houli who is accused of collaboration with the Free Life Party of Kurdistan known asPejak, has been sentenced to death.

We beseech all of you who believe in humanity and in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights to kindly and urgently intervene and take the appropriate action in order to save lives and free these prisoners from the notorious and medieval prisons of Iran.
