Campaign for fair visa application fees
This campain is focused on asking the home office to charge fair visa application fees. There is talk about a lot of illegal immigrants in this country but the reality is the home office is pushing people to abandon renewing their visas because the fees are just too steep for anyone to afford. There are a lot of genuine people in this country that are here for various reason, ie students spouses etc and they are trying to do things by the book but when you find yourself having to pay over a thousand pounds in one go to the home office you realise you cant afford to have a roof over your head.
At the end of the day It cant cost more than 40 per application and we cant see how the home office can justify charging over 100 per application and up to 1000. This system is penalising law abiding immigrants and not remembering that we all pay taxes that fund the welfare system. The service is not up to standard as people`s lives are put on hold indefinately when it takes months for us to get our passports back. This petition is to ask the home office to review their fees and charge fairly. This does not stop them from refusing extension for applications they are not satified with and it will encourage people to go through the right channel.
