Option to Remove Voicemail Recording with Verizon Wireless

To:  Verizon Wireless

We, Verizon Wireless customers (or possible Verizon Wireless customers) are petitioning in hopes that Verizon Wireless will add an option to our voicemail setup to add or remove the recording which states, “At the tone please record your message, when you finish recording you may hang up, or press one for more options. To leave a callback number, press five” at the end of our personally recorded messages. Our hope is not that the buttons or features be disabled; simply an option given to remove the recording from the end of our personally recorded message.

The following are some reasons Verizon Wireless should consider making the change:
(1) Most people who use a phone are familiar with the operations of a basic answering machine / voicemail and don’t need instructions to leave a message after the tone and then hang up.
(2) If the need was felt to instruct people who call how to leave a message we could easily instruct them ourselves. (For example many people say “Leave a message after the tone…” only to have the voice attached repeat the same thing.)
(3) Most people who call don’t use the advanced options – and those that do regularly already know what buttons they can hit.
(4) Verizon Wireless customers are simply losing valuable air time when they don’t plan on using the advanced options, or are already aware that 1 = more options and 5 = callback number.
(5) There are other cell phone providers that do not attach such a message to the end of their voicemail, and others allow you to press a number to skip it.

We are customers (present or possible) that use our cell phones everyday and simply want Verizon to add a more customizable feature to the voice mail.
