Abolishment of the Electoral College |
To: U.S. CongressThis is a petition to abolish the Electoral College which takes away true independence away from the citizens of America most likely thinking only how it benefits themselves. It is simply a group of so-called 'Elite' people who get the final say in the most important decision since The United States presidential election of 1789 ,the first presidential election in the United States of America, "Who will be the President of the United States?" The Electoral College has been known to put the Candidate unpopular with the majority of U.S. citizens on the 'throne' of the White House. One example is George W. Bush in the 2000 election where Bush received 271 electoral votes to Al Gore's 266. However, he lost the popular vote by more than half a million votes, making him one of a handful of presidents elected without at least a plurality of the popular vote.
Sincerely,
