Venezuelan ONGs to attend the next OAS meeting to be held in Honduras

We would like to bring to your attention a request to allow interested and independent ONGs to attend the next OAS meeting to be held in Honduras. We have been informed that the non-democratic government of Venezuela led by Mr. Hugo Chavez is intending to stop Human Rights advocate ONGs from participating in this meeting. They have already stated that they would like to “reserve the right to select the ONG that will participate”.

Mr. Chavez has always shown open adversity towards respect, fairness and human rights. A specific example is the fact that he has never allowed “OAS Interamerican Comission of Human Rights” to visit the country and once expelled out of Venezuela “Human Rights Watch” President, Mr. Jose Miguel Vivanco. Mr. Chavez has constantly disqualified Human Rights watch organizations and in this particular situation their intention is to ban ONLY the ONGs that are independent of the Venezuelan government in an attempt to hide the Venezuelan reality.
