Remove the Martin County Airport (Witham Field) Runway Extension

To:  Martin County Board of County Commissioners

Restore the Martin County Airport (Witham Field) to a Community Friendly General Aviation Airport.

In 1998, Martin County extended runway 12/30 at the Martin County Airport (Witham Field) Stuart, Florida by 460 feet to the North West. As a result of this runway extension, Runway Protection Zones (RPZ’s) and Runway Safety Areas (RSA’s) at Witham Field are non-standard, are not in compliance with standard FAA safety regulations, and have endangered residents and users of the airport.

We the undersigned, petition that Martin County:

Remove the 460’ runway extension added to the Martin County Airport in 1998, restore all RPZ’s and RSA’s to pre-1998 conditions, and ensure that, in the future, the Martin County Airport (Witham Field) is in full compliance with all FAA safety regulations.
