SAVE WABAN BRANCH LIBRARY PETITION

July 2008

To Mayor David Cohen, Library Director Nancy Perlow, and the Board of Trustees of the Newton Free Library:

We, the undersigned Newton residents and supporters of the Waban Branch Library, respectfully request that you reverse your decision to close the Waban Branch Library. Waban is a small village with no cultural amenities that serve the whole community other than our beloved Branch Library. Our branch also serves as headquarters for the Newton Food Pantry, amplifying its importance to the whole Newton community.

With community involvement, we believe we can make giant strides toward helping our branch evolve into a "library of the future." We ask you for the chance to make the Waban Branch a vibrant community center and model for all communities that seek to help their libraries grow. We ask that you reverse your position to close the Branch Libraries.
