Walkers Crisps Packets Colours

There is now, an increasing trend for companies to standardise their products worldwide. This had lead to rows of near identical bland products on supermarket shelves, in standardised boxes and packages, all controlled by a few multi-national congolomerates.

On the whole this is a deplorable situation, however there is one product that should have some standards in it's packaging....

Crisps.

The standard accepted colours for packets of crisp are green for Cheese and Onion, and blue for Salt and Vinegar.

In as much as tastes can have a colour it is obvious that Salt and Vinegar does have a blue taste, as does Cheese and Onion taste green. Also bear in mind Salt and Vinegar is a flavouring commonly associated with Sea food, the blue colour of the packet therefore associates this flavour with the sea.

Why then does Walkers Crisps insist on packaging up their crisps in the wrong colour packets?

The answer from them that they have always been this colour is hardly adequate.

Who do Walkers think they are that they can buck the commonly accepted colours in this way? They can get the other packets the right colours, so why swap these two round? Is it some cynical marketing ploy to ensure their packets stand out on the shelves? They have already done away with the "Smiths Crisps" name, depriving us of one of the legacies of one of the first crisp pioneers.

The fact that they have reintroduced Roast Beef Monster Munch again shows that Walkers can listen to public opinion.

Therefore please sign this petition to the Managers and Directors of Walkers Crisps to make their Salt and Vinegar crisp packets blue and Cheese and Onion crisp packets green.
