Petition to Effect the Immediate Repair and Renovation of the
Washington Crossing Historic Park Visitor Center
FIX IT NOW, FIX IT RIGHT, FIX IT WITHOUT DELAY
We realize that elected officials must make difficult and unpopular decisions in these dire economic
times. But clearly there was never a more dire period in our history than December of 1776. On that foreboding Christmas night 233 years ago, an immediate decision had to be made, and, because of it our nation was born. Those crucial days mark one of the most significant events in the long march of human endeavor, and have served as a profound inspiration to Americans ever since.
Today, that most hallowed ground on which those glorious events were forged has been allowed to fall into disgraceful disrepair through bureaucratic delays and government indecision. Money was
approved over four years ago, yet the Visitors Center at Washington Crossing Historic Park continues to deteriorate. We, the undersigned, do hereby petition our federal, state, and local officials to end this technical morass and immediately: 1) release allocated funding, and, 2) begin the restoration and repair of the Visitors Center, so that the site will once again do honor to the
courageous men who consecrated it long ago.
