20 Million Acres of Wetlands at Risk due to the United States Government's Clean Water Act
We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the Clean Water Act Regulatory Definitions of "Waters of the United States" and demand that consideration be given to the countless number of animal lives at stake.

The United States Supreme Court decision in 2001 determined that only navigable waters should be protected and that non-navigable waters are, literally, of no concern.

This ruling means isolated or temporary bodies of waters, such as small lakes, ponds, swamps, marshes, and vernal ponds which are not connected to navigable waters - where most amphibians and many reptiles live and breed - will receive minimal, if any, protection under this act, even if they contain endangered species.

A great deal of time is spent worrying about why the amphibians of the world are in decline, and soon, in the United States, it will be because of our own government as this ruling is a direct invitation to mass extinctions of amphibians and other wildlife.

For these reasons, we insist that all bodies of water be included in the protection of the Clean Water Act.
