To:  Warner Bros. Studios

We, the undersigned, call for a reversal of the decision to postpone Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until July, 2009. We see the decision on behalf of Warner Bros. to show contempt for Harry Potter fans and the movie-going public in general.

We believe the reasons behind the decision are fatally flawed and do nothing but prove Warner Bros. is unequivocally out of touch with the Harry Potter fanbase. To put off the release of a major film strictly for the sake of profit is the antithesis of what the Harry Potter story embodies. Anyone who will see this film in July, 2009 would be seeing it in November, 2008. There will be no difference in numbers.

In terms of good business, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has been the most successful Harry Potter movie to date. It was released in November, 2001.

We petition the reinstatement of the November release date, and that Warner Bros. cease their greedy operations of our beloved franchise. In case of a failure to reinstate the original release date, this petition calls for a boycott of the film in the cinema until such a time that it has lost out to competing “blockbuster” films.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
