To:  Computer users

We believe that the term "whack" or "wack" should be solely used for describing the term "backslash" or "\" instead of the "forward slash" or "/".

In today's fast-paced world, using clear acronyms such as "dubdubdub" for "www" and "slash" and "whack" should not have ambiguous meanings. Having the single syllable moniker helps in speed and accuracy, but only if it's a commonly held standard of which term means which character.

Having "whack" refer to both a slash and a backslash confuses the issue. "Whack" should therefore be dedicated to "backslash"

Usage in pronunciation:

http:// is H, T, T, P, colon, slash, slash
\\server\share is whack whack server whack share

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
