31 states still require a front plate. Many of those are finally considering the cost savings of what Doyle is proposing. The dubious law enforcement rationale is a weak argument to counter the fiscal advantages cited.

Modern cars are styled to not only LOOK BETTER without a plate on the front, but are designed for better aero efficiency without one. Although I haven't been able to locate research to support this, it is simple physics. The manufacturers spend millions in wind-tunnels to optimize airflow and we mess it up with that license plate. Even if it accounts for 1/10 of a MPG, multiply it by the vehicles impacted and the cumulative savings would be tremendous. Let us not be all beholding to law enforcement on this one. It makes perfect sense, lets support it!
