Draft Action Plan for an Independent Workers Movement Following the Million Worker March (MWM) October 17, 2004 |
To: EveryonePlease Sign the Draft Action Plan for an Independent Workers Movement Following the Million Worker March (MWM) October 17, 2004
1. Continuing the work of the MWM after the October 17, 2004 rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC is critical.
2. The foundation of this work should be the construction of democratically organized regional committees of the MWM. The regional committees should meet monthly and seek to build support and action around the program of the MWM.
3. Following October 17, 2004 a national conference should be held to:
a. Complete an assessment/evaluation of the work of the organizing committees, unions and all supporters of the MWM
b. Discuss a plan/strategy for continuing the work of the MWM nationally
c. Discuss the development of independent labor candidates that would run for office on the program of the MWM
4. Elect a national steering committee with regional representatives and representatives of unions and other endorsing organizations.
5. Launch a monthly newspaper to publicize the ongoing activities and issues around the program of the MWM.
6. Prepare for the organization of another rally/march in 2005.
Sincerely,
