Dont Cut Rifle Team

To:  WVU Athletic Department

As we have heard, the Athletic Department of WVU has taken away the rifle team, claiming that the budget was the main cause of it cutting, but if you look at the number of sports after the rifle (and other teams cuts), you will see that there are a lot more womens sports then there are mens sports. Title IX was to prevent discrimination of a gender in anything at schools, but as you can see, the cuts made were all classified as mens teams, and the rifle team (although a few women are on the team), is a "mens" team as well that got cut. I belive the cut was more for "compliance" more than anything.

Rifle team has also produced numerous Olympians, All-Americans, and National Championships, more than any other team at WVU combined. Cutting a successful program like rifle, is in a way, just plain stupid.

The reason of this petition is to show to the Athletic Department that the Rifle team cuts (along with the other teams cuts) was the wrong thing to do. If anything, at least bring back Rifle. If you can bring

back all other teams cut, that would be great
