Petition to bring back Lucy on XM-54 |
To: SiriusXMTo encourage SiriusXM to reinstate the channel Lucy on XM-54.
On November 11 at 11:59PM Lucy played it's very last song before being replaced by the Channel Lithium. The signers of this petition feel Lithium is NOT a suitable replacement for our beloved Lucy. Lithium is STRICTLY the hits from the 90's and doesn't stray away from that format. Lucy was the complete opposite in many areas as it played alternative music from the 80s, 90s, and present. While Lucy played hits, it made a point to dive deeper into playlists and play rarities, b-sides, and less popular artists or songs from those years.
Here is a history of the channel Lucy.
Lucy was a satellite radio station, with an Alternative Music format. This channel was located on channel 54 on XM Satellite Radio and channel 838 on DirecTV. The channel was programmed largely under the watch of Music Director Bill Hutton who pulled most of the music from the hits of the alternative rock music genre of the late 1980s through now. Lucy was a DJ-free (and commercial-free) channel that relies on quick humorous promos that often poke light fun at their target audience.
In January 2006 XM began to alter the sound of the channel by adding current modern rock hits to its playlists and referring to the channel as a work in progress. The change was not warmly embraced by the majority of the audience and by June 2006 XM abandoned the changes returning the channel to its prior sound.
In June 2007, as part of an overall XM management shift in philosophy towards the biggest hit songs on their channels, the playlist was altered so that the biggest hits, that are aired on Lucy, went from a repeat cycle of 60-72 hours to 30-36 hours.
In November 2008, the channel was scrapped as part of the Sirius XM Merger. It was replaced by Sirius' similar Lithium.
By signing this petition you agree that SiriusXM need to bring back Lucy to XM-54Sincerely,
