Petition for WIT University Status

To:  Bat O'Keefe, Minister for Education, Ireland

The South East of Ireland sustains a population of 460,000 people. It is also the largest region in the entire island that is not served by university facilities. A proposal has recently been made by the governing body of WIT to re-designate the Institute to university status, thereby providing a full university facility for the South East of Ireland. The aim of this petition is to state clearly to the current government that the students, staff and people of the region support the campaign for WIT to be re-designated a university.

We, the undersigned, are concerned students, staff and people of the region who urge our leaders to act immediately to grant university status for Waterford Institute of Technology.
