National Reform of Price-Gouging at Gas Pumps |
To: U.S. Congess, U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives
We, the undersigned, have been carrying a burden that supports an unfairness in our economic system. Gas companies have been price-gouging consumers at fueling stations, and we ask for an investigation into the unjust practices that are plaguing the citizens of the United States.
We paid more than $4 for a gallon of gas back in July when oil was over $140 a barrel. As of today, oil is under $70 a barrel, and we are still play about $3 for a gallon of gas. These numbers do not add up.
When gas prices first rose over $2 a gallon, we heard a lot about how gas stations would be closely monitored for price-gouging. The premise of price-gouging has since fallen out of the public eye and out of the public mind, but we have remembered.
We are looking to our national government to bring reform to these unethical practices. We ask that you do everything within your power to relieve us from this oppression.Sincerely,
